Need Background:

A high Infant mortality rate remains across developing countries. Ten percent of all deaths under 5 years occur due to birth asphyxia or simply – failure to breathe at birth (estimated 760,000 annual deaths globally). A similar number of survivors are mentally or physically disabled for life.

Technology:

NeoBreathe is a foot-operated resuscitator – it frees one hand of the operator from the task of pressing a bag. This freed hand when used to hold the mask (with both hands) is proven to reduce face-mask leakage by 50% and improve ventilation by 15-20%. The freed hand also allows more effective multi-tasking. When skilled manpower is short – this can make all the difference. For instance, it allows a single operator to perform full CPR – something that needs two skilled persons otherwise.
